Halos for Senior Angels

My grandmother spent her last TEN years in Concordia Nursing Home. She didn't realize where she was for many of those years, but it I tried to go see her frequently to add a card to the bulletin board on her wall or just "sit a spell." While the building is old and a bit dreary, the staff is absolutely incredible- they are UNSUNG heroes. They became like family to us. They loved my grandmother and cared for her better than we ever could. They knew exactly what she needed. The love they poured into their patients, many of which would not remember them from one day to the next, was amazing. They do their very best to make fun events, art projects, play games, and provide entertainment for their very immobile guests. Many wheelchairs line the hall ways so they feel "togetherness" and can be easily monitored by the watchful eyes of the nurses' station.
